Pharmacoeconomics in Africa: needs, prospect and challenges

Promoting Access to Medicines Through Policy-Oriented Research

As a healthcare professional and policy advocate, my core interest is promoting access to medicines through policy-oriented research. This paper published in the Journal of Pharmaceutical Policy and Practice aligns with my commitment to developing robust, evidence-based policies that enhance the affordability and availability of medications for underserved populations and is the first of what is hopefully a series of more in-depth study. By exploring the pharmacoeconomic landscape, I aim to provide actionable insights that can guide policymakers and stakeholders in creating sustainable healthcare solutions.

Driving Policy Engagement Among Young Healthcare Professionals
One of the results of being actively involved in student-led initiatives is my continued interest in empowering young healthcare professionals to actively engage with the policies that shape the African healthcare system, particularly those ensuring access to essential medicines. This drive led me to co-author A Textbook of Public Health Pharmacy, where I contributed a chapter detailing medicine policies within the African healthcare system. The impact of this work is the increased awareness and involvement of young professionals in policy discourse, fostering a more informed and proactive healthcare community.

Mitigating the impact of air pollution on health: The role of community pharmacists – FIP Global Survey Report

I co-authored an International Pharmaceutical Federation global survey report examining the pivotal role of community pharmacists in mitigating the impact of air pollution on respiratory health. This report underscores how pharmacists can act as frontline defenders, providing essential healthcare services and education to communities affected by air pollution.

My interests in data analysis and policy are at the core of this research. By analyzing global survey data, we identified key trends and actionable insights that can inform policy decisions to better equip community pharmacists in this vital role. This work aligns with my broader commitment to leveraging data-driven approaches to shape effective healthcare policies, ultimately enhancing public health outcomes.
